Hidehiko Yamane was a connoisseur of jeans and would search around the world for the best quality he could find. In 1988 decided that there was a real lack of quality and he would make his own.

He originally called his jeans Evis, after the Buddhist god of prosperity, and they were made in Osaka from pure American cotton. Yamane painted his famous seagull logo on each article, and  he only produced a dozen jeans a day.

In 1997 Evisu jeans due to the high demand were made on licence in Italy.

Evisu Jeans. Dark, salve edge, dry handle raw denim. Loose fit, deep rise jeans, with yellow and orange stitching feature. Button up fly, two large back pockets, and leather branding patch on back of waistband. Brilliant, off white ‘paint effect’.
